If you have a question about an investment opportunity, investment risks, or information on CheckFirst, let us know below.

File an investor complaint

If you have concerns about how your investments or securities have been handled, a company you have invested in or if you believe a person or company has breached Alberta securities law, please make a formal complaint with the ASC.

Be ready to provide us with the following information:

  • What your complaint is about
  • When the incident took place (dates, times, etc.)
  • The steps you have taken during the course of the situation.
  • Names and addresses of those involved, and your relationship to the person or company at the source of the complaint.
  • Any copies of letters, canceled cheques, account statements, or other documents that will help explain your complaint and support your statements. You may be asked to provide these hard copy documents at a later date.
  • Other relevant information that would be helpful to better understand your concerns.

Report a suspicious investment

Be ready to provide us with the following information:

  • Complete spelling of your first and last name.
  • Whether you wish to have us respond to you via email or phone. If email: please spell the email address slowly and clearly. If phone: please list multiple numbers with area code for reaching you (work, home, cell), when a convenient call back time is and whether it is okay for us to leave a detailed message on your answering machine/ voicemail.
  • What it is that you are wanting to know (e.g. if an adviser/ broker is registered, or if a company has been the subject of enforcement action).
  • List the spelling of the full name of the adviser/ broker or company you are wondering about (if possible, please provide a middle name or initial and/ or the correct variation of the company name such as Inc., Ltd., Co. etc.).
